Employee Spotlight: Yesenia Zavala – Growing With Purpose

Since joining Achilles USA in April 2018, Yesenia Zavala has become a vital member of our production management team. Today, she serves as our Production Control Supervisor, overseeing production control and the color room, two areas that ensure our plastic film manufacturing operations run smoothly daily. But Yesenia's story with Achilles is more than a job title. It's a journey of growth, curiosity, and dedication in the flexible film manufacturing industry.

From Mixer to Supervisor: A Career Built on Learning

When Yesenia first came to Achilles USA's facility in Everett, Washington, she was seeking a fresh opportunity. After hearing great things about the company, she applied for a role in the pigment department and joined our team as a mixer in the color room. Her early days were hands-on, as she combined pigments for our PVC film production lines and learned the foundational aspects of plastic film manufacturing.

Her strong work ethic didn't go unnoticed. Soon after, Yesenia began supporting production control on a part-time basis, and something clicked. She developed a natural interest in the flow of production, scheduling, and maintaining operational alignment. Her skills grew quickly, and she eventually transitioned into a full-time production control role.

From there, she moved into scheduling and worked closely with Daysi Tirado, our Vice President of Sales and Marketing. That mentorship helped shape Yesenia into the manufacturing leader she is today.

Leading With Commitment in Production Management

As Production Control Supervisor, Yesenia’s responsibilities have expanded beyond managing day-to-day production schedules and the color room. She now plays an essential role in our ERP’s business continuity and punch improvement initiatives. Additionally, she oversees adjustments to finished goods inventory, ensuring the company maintains efficient stock levels and meets customer demand promptly.

One of her proudest achievements was stepping up to lead production control and scheduling after her former manager left. It was a challenging moment, but Yesenia handled it with confidence and stability, keeping a critical department on track without missing a beat. Her leadership, reliability, and calm under pressure have earned her deep respect across the company.

Employee Spotlight: Life Outside the Factory

When she's not managing production flow at our Everett manufacturing plant, Yesenia enjoys spending time outdoors, especially gardening and fishing. She describes her fishing attempts as "relentless" (we respect the honesty), but her persistence is part of what makes her shine both in and out of work. As part of our employee spotlight, we highlight her dedication and passion. And at the end of the day, nothing brings her more joy than music, which she says inspires her daily.
