Custom PVC Film for Industrial Curtains, Containment Liners, and Geomembranes

Achilles USA manufactures custom flexible and semi-rigid PVC film for industrial fabric applications, including curtains, containment liners, geomembranes, and anti-static enclosures. Our films are engineered from 5 mil to 120 mil in clear, opaque, and tinted options, with specialized formulations for fire retardancy, cold-crack resistance, UV blocking, and antimicrobial performance. We have been supplying the industrial market since 1973.

What are industrial PVC films used for?

Achilles USA industrial PVC films are used for welding curtains and screens, anti-static partition curtains, cold storage strip curtains, mining enclosures, pool liners, geomembranes and pond liners, and shower curtains and containment barriers. Each application requires a specific combination of thickness, flexibility, clarity, and additive package. Achilles USA engineers every film to the exact performance requirements of the end use, including fire retardancy, anti-static conductivity, UV blocking, and fish-safe certifications for aquatic containment.

Applications

  • Curtains:

PVC strip and panel curtains are used across manufacturing, food processing, cold storage, mining, and welding environments to control temperature, dust, noise, and static while allowing easy movement of people and equipment. Achilles USA curtain films are available in welding-grade (infrared and UV blocking), anti-static (for ESD-sensitive environments), cold storage (cold crack resistant to -40°F), and mining-grade (fire retardant per CSFM, NFPA 701, and CPAI-84) formulations.

  • Containment:

PVC containment liners (also known as geomembranes) are flexible, impermeable membranes used to prevent the migration of liquids or gases in pool, pond, mining, and industrial waste applications. Achilles USA produces containment films from 20 mil to 120 mil in clear and opaque formulations, including fish-safe options for aquaculture and decorative pond applications.

Materials

  • Flexible and semi-rigid PVC

  • PVC alloy

Fire Retardancy Standards

Our PVC films can be tested and certified to the most widely recognized flame and fire propagation standards in the industry. Depending on your application and jurisdiction, we can provide documentation for any of the following:

  • NFPA 701 (Standard Methods of Fire Tests for Flame Propagation of Textiles and Films) — required for curtains, draperies, and industrial dividers used in public and commercial spaces.

  • CSFM Title 19 (California State Fire Marshal) — required for curtains and films installed in California commercial and public facilities.

  • ASTM E84 (Standard Test Method for Surface Burning Characteristics) — measures flame spread and smoke development for wall and ceiling materials.

  • CPAI-84 (Canvas Products Association International Specification 84) — fire retardancy standard for industrial tarpaulins, covers, and enclosures.

Specialized Features

  • Abrasion resistance — Extends the service life of curtains and liners in high-traffic industrial environments where films are regularly contacted by equipment, tools, or materials.

  • Anti-microbial / anti-fungal — Inhibits the growth of mold, mildew, and bacteria on film surfaces, critical for food processing, healthcare, and shower curtain applications.

  • Fish-safe formulations — Manufactured without plasticizers or additives harmful to aquatic life, making them suitable for decorative ponds, aquaculture tanks, and water features.

  • Cold crack / impact resistance — Maintains flexibility and integrity at temperatures as low as -40°F, required for cold storage curtains and refrigeration enclosures.

  • IR / UV blocking — Absorbs or reflects infrared and ultraviolet radiation to protect workers, reduce heat transfer, and preserve interior environments from light degradation.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the recommended PVC film thickness for industrial curtains?

For standard strip curtains and panel curtains, 6 mil to 12 mil is the typical range, with thicker films (12 mil to 20 mil) used in high-traffic industrial environments or cold storage applications where additional rigidity and durability are needed. Achilles USA manufactures industrial curtain films ranging from 5 mil to 20 mil, with formulations for welding, anti-static, cold storage, and mining environments.

  • What is the difference between anti-static and standard PVC curtain film?

Standard PVC curtain film provides a physical barrier for temperature, dust, and noise control, but does not dissipate electrostatic charge. Anti-static PVC film is formulated with conductive additives that reduce surface resistivity, preventing the buildup and discharge of static electricity. This is essential in electronics manufacturing, cleanrooms, and any environment where ESD (electrostatic discharge) can damage sensitive components or create ignition risks.

  • Are Achilles USA PVC films safe for fish ponds and aquaculture?

Yes. Achilles USA offers fish-safe PVC film formulations for pond liners, aquaculture tanks, and water features. These films are manufactured without plasticizers or additives harmful to aquatic life, and are available in thicknesses from 20 mil to 40 mil for decorative and commercial pond applications.

  • What is the difference between a geomembrane and a pond liner?

Both terms refer to impermeable PVC membranes used to contain liquids, but they differ in application. Pond liners are used for decorative, residential, or aquaculture water features. Geomembranes are engineered for higher-performance industrial and environmental applications, including mining tailings ponds, landfill leachate containment, and industrial waste lagoons, where chemical resistance, UV stability, and long-term impermeability are critical.
