Employee Spotlight: Harold Von Spreckelsen

Meet Harold Von Spreckelsen, our long-time Business Development Manager, who joined Achilles USA on January, 1990. What began as an intriguing opportunity in marketing and business development has evolved into a remarkable 35-year career marked by impact, growth, and global collaboration.

“At the time, the job sounded interesting, and it truly was. I’ve been fortunate to work on meaningful projects ever since.” One of Harold’s proudest achievements is his role in helping expand Achilles’ medical business. Since moving into sales in 2000, he’s been instrumental in developing key partnerships and cross-border collaboration.

“One project really stands out,” he shares. “I had the chance to work closely with Achilles Japan to help set up the business on their end. It was a great experience.” Harold credits the company’s culture of autonomy and trust for his success.

“Achilles has always allowed people the freedom to take initiative and pursue opportunities,” he explains. “That flexibility is what kept me excited about my work all these years.”

Currently, Harold is focused on expanding new business for the cast line, specifically seeking customers beyond traditional PVC film applications. He’s also collaborating with fellow BDMs to deepen their understanding of Achilles’ evolving capabilities.

“There’s a lot of potential, and it’s energizing to be part of that exploration,” he says.

Much has changed since Harold’s early days. “Back then, we used Rolodex cards, manual typewriters, and flight directories instead of the internet,” he laughs.

Outside of work, Harold finds joy in the simple things: long walks, reading, and spending time with his now-grown children. He’s active in his church and looking forward to a new chapter as a grandfather.

For new employees, Harold shares this advice: “Don’t be afraid to take risks. Try new things, go after opportunities, and always reach out to collaborate. The best ideas often come from working with others.”
